ACADEMIC ALTERNATIVE PROGRAM (GR 7-9) 2026/27

The Academic Alternative Program is for junior high students who meet entrance criteria prior to entering the program in Grade 7.  Applications for the Academic Alternative program will be posted on this website in January 2024.  The application deadline is January 30, 2026 before 4:00 PM.  Entrance Exam for students who are NOT currently Grandview Heights students will be Saturday, February 7, 2026. Further information about the application process and application documents can be found in this link or  2026-2027 Academic Alternative Program Application Package

Grandview Grade 7 Academic Alternative Information Evening for parents and students interested in Grade 7 Academic Alternative entrance for the 2024-2025 school year.  Come hear about the program, entrance requirements, and ask any questions you might have.

Information Evening is Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 6:30 pm and a second time at 7:30pm.  Parents should attend only ONE time.

CURRENT DIVISION STUDENTS PRE-ENROL
You will need to pre-enrol on SchoolZone to tell us the school you’d like your child to attend next year. Find important dates and deadlines and learn more about pre-enrolment,  Which will open February 2. The deadline for families to choose their school for the 2026-2027 school year is March  18, 2026.

If you are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you can register for school online. Visit the Division website to learn how to register for school. Grandview Heights does not offer Kindergarten.  Kindergarten students in the Grandview Heights catchment area are designated to Lansdowne School. 

 

GENERAL REGISTRATION INFORMATION

SIBLING RULE

The Superintendent has suspended sibling access to Grandview Heights School for students residing outside of the Grandview Heights neighbourhood.

For the regular program only, the following students are guaranteed admission:

  1. resident students who live in the attendance area

Remaining spaces are filled, including when a random selection process is conducted, in the following order: 

  1. siblings of current students who are returning to the school the following year***
  2. resident students who live outside of the attendance area
  3. non-resident students are subject to any other requirements as outlined in the HC.AR regulation.

-If your child is returning to Grandview Heights next year check the School News in SchoolZone periodically for news updates.

-If your child will be new to Grandview Heights, check the Next Year tab in SchoolZone periodically for school news updates.

 

 

 

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION - Current Year

For the present academic year Grandview Heights School is full in planned classes in Grades 1 to 9 in the regular program AND in Grades 7 to 9 in the Academic Alternative program. We will now only accept resident students who move into the school’s attendance area (you must permanently reside at that address) for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian permanently living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enroll in another Division school with space in planned classes.
